PicPeek is a local desktop image browsing and comparison app published by ZKnowAI.

This policy explains how PicPeek handles data in the desktop app and in related public services such as the PicPeek website, legal pages, support page, and direct-download update service.

Summary

PicPeek is designed to work locally on your Mac or Windows computer. The desktop app does not require an account and does not upload images, filenames, folder paths, clipboard contents, comparison results, or local workflow history to ZKnowAI.

Direct-download builds may contact PicPeek's public domain for legal pages, update metadata, and signed update packages. Those network requests may create standard server logs, as described below.

Desktop App Data Handling

The current PicPeek desktop app does not collect or transmit:

PicPeek does not sell personal data, share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use advertising, analytics, tracking, crash-reporting, or cloud-storage SDKs in the current release.

Local Files and User Content

PicPeek can access files and folders that you explicitly choose in the app or open through operating-system file association. This access is used only to display images, read image metadata, generate local previews and thumbnails, compare images, and create local pinned image windows on your device.

The app does not upload your images, image metadata, filenames, folder paths, or comparison results to ZKnowAI or to a third-party service.

Clipboard Images

PicPeek can optionally watch for clipboard images and automatically create a pinned image window. This Auto Pin feature is off by default and only runs after you enable it in PicPeek settings.

When Auto Pin is enabled, PicPeek checks lightweight operating-system clipboard change identifiers first. It reads clipboard image data only when the clipboard appears to contain a new image. Clipboard images are used only to create a local pinned window and a temporary local image file. PicPeek does not clear, replace, upload, sync, or save a clipboard history.

Temporary clipboard image files are stored locally and are removed when the pinned window is closed or during later app cleanup. You can disable Auto Pin in PicPeek settings at any time.

Local Settings and Cache

PicPeek may store local settings such as recently opened folders, last-opened images, window state, language, appearance, Auto Pin settings, and temporary image cache files on your device. These records are used only to make the app work locally and are not uploaded by the desktop app.

Clearing app history or cache removes app-generated local records where the app provides that control. Removing the app may leave operating-system-managed preferences or cache files until the operating system cleans them up.

Network Access and Server Logs

PicPeek does not require a ZKnowAI account and does not use a server-based image workflow. The current release does not send analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking requests.

Mac App Store builds use the Mac App Store update path. Direct-download builds may contact https://picpeek.zknowai.com to load legal pages, check update metadata, and download signed update packages. Update checks and legal-page requests do not upload image contents, filenames, folder paths, clipboard images, comparison results, account identifiers, or advertising identifiers.

Like most websites and update services, PicPeek's public domain and hosting providers may process standard technical request data, such as IP address, user agent, request URL, time, response status, and similar security or delivery logs. These logs are used only to operate the public website, deliver legal pages and update files, prevent abuse, investigate service problems, and comply with legal obligations. They are not used for advertising or cross-service tracking.

If a future version adds online account features, cloud sync, analytics, crash reporting, support uploads, paid entitlement checks, clipboard history, cloud clipboard processing, or any update check that identifies a user beyond standard technical request data, this policy and the applicable app-store privacy disclosures will be updated before release.

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, PicPeek relies on the following legal bases where personal data is processed:

Most PicPeek desktop-app processing happens locally on your device and is not received by ZKnowAI.

Retention

Local app settings, history, thumbnails, temporary pinned-image files, and cache files remain on your device until you clear them, close the relevant pinned window, uninstall the app, or the operating system removes them.

Standard website and update-service logs, if created by hosting infrastructure, are retained only for security, abuse prevention, service operation, debugging, and legal compliance, and are deleted or anonymized when no longer needed unless law requires longer retention.

Sharing and Third-Party Processing

The current desktop app does not share your local images, local filenames, folder paths, clipboard images, comparison results, or local workflow history with ZKnowAI or third parties.

ZKnowAI may use infrastructure providers, domain/DNS providers, content delivery providers, app stores, payment processors, and similar service providers to operate the product website, legal pages, support pages, app listings, downloads, and update delivery. These providers may process standard technical request data or store transaction/support information under their own terms or as ZKnowAI's processors, depending on the service.

Apple, Microsoft, payment providers, and other app stores may independently process purchase, download, refund, crash, account, and device information according to their own privacy policies and platform rules.

International Transfers

ZKnowAI and its service providers may process website, update, support, or store-related technical data in countries or regions outside your country of residence. Where required by applicable law, ZKnowAI will use appropriate transfer safeguards, such as contractual protections or other legally recognized mechanisms.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, or an explanation of how personal data is handled.

Because the desktop app is local-first and does not upload your local workflow data, ZKnowAI usually cannot access, export, correct, or delete images, filenames, folder paths, clipboard images, comparison results, or local history stored only on your device. You can control those records through PicPeek settings, operating-system file controls, app cache/history controls, or by uninstalling the app.

You can disable optional Auto Pin at any time in PicPeek settings. You can stop direct-update checks by using a Mac App Store build or by not using the direct-download update feature where supported.

To exercise privacy rights for any data ZKnowAI may hold, contact service@zknowai.com. Users in the European Economic Area also have the right to lodge a complaint with a local data protection supervisory authority. Users in mainland China may contact ZKnowAI through the same email to exercise rights provided by applicable personal information protection laws.

Children

PicPeek is a general-purpose desktop utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to ZKnowAI through a related website or support channel, contact service@zknowai.com.

Security

PicPeek keeps image browsing and comparison workflows local by default. Direct updates, where available, use signed update packages. No method of local storage or network transmission is completely secure, but ZKnowAI takes reasonable steps to limit data processing and protect the public services needed to operate PicPeek.

Changes to This Policy

ZKnowAI may update this policy when PicPeek changes or when legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made. If a material change requires renewed agreement, PicPeek may ask you to review and accept the updated User Agreement and Privacy Policy before continuing.
